SETUP FORUM ___________________ - Log in to phpBB forum as an administrator and create as many categories as you want - In order for the software to know in which category to place the new topics and posts, we need to specify the category number. To do this, click on a category. Look at the url in your browser. It should look like this: http://www.mydomain.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2 Notice the f=2 at the end of the url. 2 is the category number. Click on every category you created and jot down the category numbers. STEP 2. GET A NEW YAHOO API ID ______________________________ To make this software work you need to get an yahoo api ID (don't worry, it's just a 1 minute automated process). In order to get an yahoo api ID you need to have a yahoo email address. If you don't have an yahoo email address go to http://mail.yahoo.com and get one. - go to http://developer.yahoo.com/answers/ - click on "Get an Application ID" under the "Work With Us" heading in the left menu. - Enter your Yahoo email ID and Password - Fill in the form on the next page - Jot down the code after the line "Your application id is". That's the id you need. The ID looks something like this: RzTFlynV34GDfQj6u79dsdf0IIOLsadOcZAl1nSvgG1lJwOeLxeMYyx9gNjAcTU- STEP 3. SETUP VUMPOST _____________________ A. open the folder VumPost B. open the file config.php with your favorite text editor (like Notepad) and customize the script C. look for this line: $date_range = 'all'; If you have a new forum, with just a few posts, leave this to 'all'. If you already have a decent number of posts, change this to '7' D. save your config.php file (click on File and select Save) E. upload the folder vumpost to your forum directory F. in your web browser, open the file run.html eg: http://www.your_domain.com/forum/vumpost/run.html G. click on "Run setup.php" H. click on "Run search.php" and wait until the software looks for new questions and answers I. Go to your forum homepage and you should have new topics and posts. J. If you selected $date_range = 'all' in step C. now change it to $date_range = '7'. Save the file and upload it to the vumpost folder on your server (where your forum is located). It it asks to overwrite click yes k. Whenever you want to get new topics, open run.html in your browser (as described in step F.) and click on "Run search.php" and "Run update.php" Email support@vumpost.com for support.
